Swimming

On Saturday, we decided to go to Lazy 5 to play! Ava was SO excited cause Daddy was coming this time!
We are glad Ava still likes water because on Friday she nearly drowned! We were at a friends pool for playgroup. Ava and her little friends were jumping in and out of the pool and hot tub with their floaties on.(Ava is part fish...with no fear!) When it was time to go I took off Ava's swimsuit and floaties. Brooklyn was fussy so I turned to her for literally a few seconds to put a binky it. When I stood up I just felt like something was wrong. I couldn't see Ava anywhere near. She had jumped into the hot tub and all I saw was her feet and arms kicking as hard as she could and then she started to float to the bottom. I jumped in (fully clothed) and pulled her out...I don't think she had been in for very long because she was screaming as I pulled her out. It was the most beautiful sound I have EVER heard! I have learned that my little dare devil will not have her floaties removed until we reach the car! I am so grateful for her and I'm so grateful that she wasn't hurt in any way!

  1. Oh, Ann, that is so scary! I am so glad she was okay. And I love that picture of her. So much personality!

  2. Amanda was telling me about that. That is too scary! Maddy and Lilly were that same way and it was my worste fear that the same thing would happen. They could not understand that they CANNOT swim! I remember Maddy constantly telling me to stop holding her in the water and she would try to push my hands off from her. I finally let her go just to prove to her that she needed me to hold her. She was two. She started going under and when I pulled her up the look on her face was pure panic. SHe didn't aske me to let go of her anymore!

  3. Let me make you feel better and just say you are not alone! Hadley has taken her arm floaties off twice this summer and both times had to be saved. It is sooooo freaky!
